Men are shaving their eyelashes off to appear more manly
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Bet you didn't think this would ever be a trend?

Over the years, we've certainly seen some interesting beauty trends.
Some have knocked the socks off people worldwide who have envied them
and followed them like eager puppies, while others have truly made us
question the concept of fellowship.
In a world where women spend a fortune on improving their eyelashes, some men are doing the exact opposite – shaving theirs off.
According to social media posts, the driving force behind this questionable trend is the belief that shorter lashes make men look more masculine.

While this trend may be gaining traction, it’s far from advisable.
Eyelashes play an important role in eye health – not only do they shield your eyes from dust and debris, but they also protect against the sun’s rays and help prevent dryness.
Ophthalmologist Dr Ashley Hayden told the New York Post, "The more you interrupt the natural life of your lashes, the worse it will be for your eyes."
In short, while shaving off eyelashes might make some men feel more masculine, it’s neither beneficial for eye health nor particularly flattering.
Bare eyelids can look unnatural, so perhaps embracing what’s already there is the better option.
