Mom finds evidence of live rodent in online shopping order
What would you do if you found a rat inside your new shoe box?
Getting more than you expected in an online shopping order usually feels like a bonus – a win-win situation. But for this mother and son, it turned into quite the opposite.
Carmz and Levi, who often share content on TikTok, took to social media to recount their disappointing experience with an online order from Takealot.
In the video, Carmz explained how excited Levi was when his long-awaited parcel finally arrived. However, that excitement quickly turned to disappointment the moment they opened the box of sneakers.
It turned out the box contained more than just sneakers. To their shock, the sneakers were stained with what they believed to be rat urine, and the paper inside the box was shredded, as though chewed by a rodent.
As if that wasn’t enough, Carmz opened the box further to reveal what appeared to be rat droppings both on the sneakers and at the bottom of the box.

As if one nightmare delivery wasn’t bad enough, the pair shared a follow-up video revealing their "luck" (cue the sarcasm).
After returning the first box, they received a second one that also appeared to have been invaded by rats.
Completely disgusted, they tagged Takealot in their video to call attention to the issue.
We reached out to Takealot to understand their processes and procedures for handling situations like this, but we’ve yet to receive a response.
