It doesn't just take a great idea to make it...
Being a full-time working mother and running a home can be challenging to say the least.
Not all mothers can do it, especially without help, and even with help it can leave you pulling your hair out at times.
So to hear this inspiring woman's story is certainly a silver lining. Mpho Mohaswa was struggling to balance the work/family life and so she decided to quit her job and start her own beverage company.
Mpho has a chemical engineering qualification and had a job as a business developer at Air Liquide. But she and her husband decided that she should take a break from work to focus on their growing family in 2017.
She had an idea to create her own ready-to-drink ginger beer brand, but this took some time with experimentation and finding the right formula.
After six months of experimenting, she founded her company, Precious and Pearl Brands, "which makes ready-to-drink and concentrate ginger beer under the brand, Ghemere." (Business Insider)
"Ginger beer in South Africa is a quintessential drink enjoyed at ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, and other gatherings. It uses yeast as a key ingredient and is typically fermented over a couple of days." (Business Insider)
So it is definitely something that both event organisers as well as families will enjoy. Considering how it will assist in the time delay when it comes to waiting for the drink to ferment.
Mpho's degree in chemical engineering helped her formulate a drink that had a long shelf life, which is an essential part of what she aimed to offer her market.

The key with her product is that it doesn't ferment, instead it contains preservatives.
"Her product landed its first spot on a retail shelf at Food Lover’s Market, where she doorstopped a store manager with product samples. After gaining traction from the Food Lover’s Market deal, she managed to acquire retail shelf space at the likes of Shoprite, Spar, Takealot, and Makro." (Business Insider)
Precious and Pearl Brands plans to expand the Ghemere drink with new flavours, which includes mango and orange, apple, pineapple, and strawberry.
