Mom questions motherhood after finding laptop in water
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Imagine finding your kid cleaning your laptop in a bucket of water...

We've seen so many videos of people exposing loved ones who’ve tried to "clean" their electronic devices with soap and water. While the intention may be good, water and electronics simply don’t mix.
One content creator recalled how her mother washed their toaster with soap and water, even capturing the moment on video.
Although they mean well, these actions reveal a surprising lack of awareness about the risks – electrical damage or,
worse, personal harm.
Recently, Neno shared how her own experience. She humorously captioned a video "POV: You gave motherhood a chance", before showing her daughter dunking a laptop in a bucket of water in an attempt to "clean" it.

It’s likely the child genuinely believed she was helping by "washing"
the laptop – while she might not have known better, it was an expensive
act of kindness.
Viewers saw the video for what it was: a lighthearted take on a major mishap, with the mother accepting it as a memorable (albeit frustrating) moment. While consequences may have followed, parenting is never black and white.
So, how do you teach a child right from wrong when their mistake leaves you frustrated? By taking a step back, remembering you’re the adult, and understanding that your reaction shapes their learning.
A laptop can be replaced – but the way you guide your child is a lifelong investment.
