Mom's quick thinking gets her toddler gold in school race
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
Moms with clingy toddlers have to think outside the box sometimes.
There's nothing easy about raising a toddler, especially a clingy toddler.
It can be challenging to comfort a clingy toddler because, as a mother, you only want to help your child feel at ease. While clinginess in toddlers is normal, identifying its reason can be helpful.
A mother who seems to have taken a more 'active' approach proved that sometimes you must go with the flow.

In case you were wondering what a clingy toddler is, the What To Expect website shares some signs of a clingy toddler.
- Wanting to be held or carried frequently
- Crying when put down
- Throwing frequent tantrums
- Checking for your presence
- Resisting bedtime
You could help your toddler by paying closer attention to some of the reasons behind clinginess:
- Is your toddler going through a significant life change? This is a common reason behind clinginess.
- Are you away from your toddler for long periods? It might be that your toddler is just missing you.
- Has your child missed a nap or a meal? This could also contribute to extra clinging.
- Is your toddler feeling unwell? A child could want to be closer to you if they have a cold, teething pain, etc.
- A child feeling confused or in a new scenario could be another common reason.
