Morning shenanigans sees taxi block oncoming lane
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
It’s nothing new, as we’re all familiar with this behaviour from most taxi drivers, but it’s refreshing to see that flashing blue lights still has an effect on them.

Morning traffic can be a hassle, even when you hit the road early – mostly because everyone else has the same idea.
But then there are the taxis, who always seem to make things even more difficult. What’s worse, they often get away with everything, facing no consequences for their reckless behaviour.
A video recently reminded us that sometimes these "chancers" – taxi drivers – do face the consequences of their actions.
Sure, cutting through traffic may seem harmless, but when everyone’s trying to navigate the same mess, what makes one driver think they deserve special treatment?
In the video, a taxi in the oncoming lane tries to cut into the traffic, but no one gives way, as the cars are at a standstill and the oncoming lane starts to back up.
The taxi driver stayed put as long as he could until he noticed the flashing lights of a traffic cop. That was all it took to motivate him to act. Surprisingly, he began reversing to let the oncoming traffic pass through.
It seems the flashing lights of a police vehicle had some real sway with this taxi driver – and rightfully so!
