NPO hands out sanitary hygiene products to school girls
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
"In South Africa, about 30% of girls stay home from school each month due to the lack of menstrual products..."

The University of Pretoria shared that "without access to basic menstrual products or clean, private sanitation facilities, girls are left with few options. Many miss up to five school days each month – nearly two months of missed classes yearly."
That's the sad reality for many of our girls in South Africa and other parts of Africa.
However, there are people in this world who have recognised these issues and are doing their bit to help. One such person is Roshni Naicker, the founder of SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls, a non-profit organisation based in KZN.
Naicker, together with her sponsors and Mediskills Healthcare Academy founder Allison Andrews, visited Alipore Primary School in Merebank, KZN, in February 2025 to distribute menstrual hygiene products to Grade 6 and 7 students.
According to the Citizen, Andrews taught the learners about the importance of proper menstrual hygiene and overall feminine health, emphasising how good menstrual health plays a crucial role in the well-being of adolescent girls.

Community support is essential for initiatives like this. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.
If you'd like to donate to SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls in School, please contact Naicker at 079 565 1567. She needs support for her upcoming initiative on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025.
