Parenting a generation of kids that are creative thinkers, and who aren’t consumed by society’s challenges, can be anything but easy.

And so, we are happy to have the advice of professionals such as Parent Coaches. However, sometimes taking advice from someone who knows better can be difficult.

But if you don’t try something different, then how will you know if it works or not?

Simone, a parenting coach from the Western Cape, shared some key open ended questions that we could ask our kids.

And she says that these questions could help “encourage their creative thinking, help them to express their feelings and opinions, build better communication and listening skills, and allow them to learn problem-solving skills. Open-ended questions can also help to increase their self-esteem and confidence by showing that you value their perspectives and thoughts.” (Instagram)

Here are some of her questions:

1.       If you could invent any type of new invention, what would it be?

2.       How do you think the world could be a better place?

3.       What is one challenge you have faced and how did you overcome it?

4.       What would you do if you had an extra hour in the day?

5.       If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?
