Learning how to hack our way to a better life is one thing that we refuse to fail at.

Many of us are on the same page regarding how quickly this year went by. When you see the malls putting up Christmas decorations, you know it's already the end of the year.

2024 whizzed by, and we are already setting goals for 2025. Reviewing what you set out to do this year is vital to moving into the following year.

Dr Suruchi Garg shared a list of the most helpful life hacks she learnt this year, and we wanted to break it down into two pieces (so as not to overwhelm you). These hacks are simple mindset changes that you can still make before the year ends to help you go into the new year with healthy habits.

1. No 'Zero' Days

As the heading suggests, don't go a day without doing something. For instance, if you are struggling with getting into a set exercise routine, do a part of a workout instead of doing a full workout. So, instead of a 30-minute workout, do a ten or 15-minute workout. This will help you feel like you have accomplished something instead of beating yourself up for not doing something despite your desire.

2. Create a 'Reverse Bucket List'

We love this one especially. Instead of creating a list of things you want to accomplish or achieve, write a list of things that you have already completed. Write down things you feel proud of; they don't have to be big milestones. Go back to read this on the days that feel tough, it helps you refocus and align in remembering all that you have accomplished.

3. Plan or manifest your future

Think about all your happy memories and use these as a focal point to create your future happy memories. You can practice this at any time throughout your day, and it will help you stay positive.

4. Make a 'Not-do-list'

This sounds counter-productive, but it actually steers you from doing the things that distract you the most. Make a list of things (around 5 or 10) that distract you and inhibit your productivity. For instance, Garg suggested scrolling on social media, pressing the snooze button on your alarm, etc.

5. Embrace going down creative 'Rabbit Holes'

She suggested committing time to go down rabbit holes brought on by activities that allow you to lose time. Sometimes, you could be doodling and not realise an hour has passed. Garg says this helps people find their 'Ikigai' (the Japanese word for 'Reason to live' or purpose).
