We always have a choice about how we can approach situations – this video is a great reminder of that.

South Africans have a wonderful way of finding the silver lining in almost every situation. While it may take some effort for those who struggle to stay positive, we eventually get there.

Load shedding and frequent water outages have understandably left many feeling frustrated. We can’t deny the challenges, as most of us have experienced the disappointment of being without power and water.

Yet, as with everything, there's always room for a bit of humour and creativity in the face of hardship here in South Africa.

This isn't the first time we've seen such resilience and creativity shine through during power cuts, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Ultimately, embracing this spirit of positivity is what keeps us going. Without it, we’d be left in an even darker place.

In a video shared by Jason Orpheus, we get a glimpse of his innovative approach to coping with power outages.

While many people prepare for load shedding with battery-powered lights, gas stoves, and UPS systems, some lack the means or budget to function without electricity and must rely on their creativity.

In the video, Orpheus's shows how he boiled water without a gas stove. He used candles and a grater to make his own makeshift stovetop –  and surprisingly, it worked!

People were amazed by the ingenuity he applied to a common problem. His post not only sparked joy and amusement but also left many South Africans feeling inspired.
