The secret to a happier life is spending more time outdoors

Just a mere 20 minutes a day is the cure to your mood...
There is no doubt that when it comes to being happy-go-lucky, children by far take the lead.
Now, as we read about a recent study that has been published, we realise that perhaps the answer has already been staring us in the face...
As we embark on living a happier life, it seems the benefits of being outside are abundant.
According to the research, "Exposure to nature is associated with improved psychological well-being and positive body image." (Tandfonline)
Now that sounds like a win-win situation. As we were saying earlier, perhaps the reason children are always so upbeat and happy (well, not always, but most of the time), is because they spend time outdoors...
During a 30-day study timeframe, 170 participants shared their levels of happiness experienced as they spent time outside. The responses were taken at random times of the day.
They revealed that "being outdoors was associated with significantly higher state body image on all three indicators..." (Tandfonline)

What was also interesting was the fact that the environment did make a difference in their states of happiness.
"Specific environment type was also important, with blue-spaces and wood- and grasslands, respectively, having stronger effects than other environments." (Tandfonline)
We can therefore come to the conclusion that spending time outdoors, provided you are within a space that ticks the above boxes in terms of environment, will improve your state of happiness and bring about a positive body image...
