Single mom shares a day in her life without a village

Sometimes, you just need to keep your head up high and focus on love, and you will find your way.

Being a mom with support can be challenging, but being a single mother is an entirely different ball game. It demands an even higher level of multitasking, and sometimes, you don’t have the "village" you desperately need.

One single mother, raising her baby girl on her own, shares her journey on TikTok. She’s teaching English online while still breastfeeding her daughter, and their bond is so gentle and understanding.

In one video, she shows how she juggles nursing her daughter while teaching a class online – watch the video below from TikTok.

@mommyshinanigans What Saturdays usually look like 🫣😝 as a single mom with no village. #fyp #esl #edutok #SAMA28 #englishteacher #onlineclass #privatetour #teachingkids ♬ original sound - Tash

When her daughter called out to her during the lesson, we couldn't help but feel for her – balancing motherhood and work is never easy.

Tash, the mother in the video, shared that she doesn't have a village to help her raise her daughter, a reality many single mothers in South Africa face. They often juggle work and family, lack support, struggle with financial instability, and experience judgment and isolation.

Check out another video, courtesy of TikTok, where Tash shows how her daughter's play area also doubles as her classroom when she's teaching younger kids online.

@mommyshinanigans #CapCut but of course my daughters play area is my classroom too😁🥹 #fyp #esl #edutok #englishteacher #englishteacher #teachingkids #onlineclass #teachenglishonline #happyteaching ♬ original sound - Tash

Tash's videos are a powerful reminder that sometimes you just have to make do with what you've got and forget about the things you don't have.

She encourages us to shift our perspective – instead of focusing on "what's missing" in our lives, embrace gratitude for what we have.

So many people spend their lives complaining, not realising that there are others out there who would give anything for even a fraction of what we have.
