Terrifying moment a mother and child get hit by bus

This is why they always say to be aware when you are around heavy-duty vehicles – often the drivers cannot see you.
We teach our kids about road safety because it is a key part of growing up, especially in a country like South Africa. While our nation is full of beauty and strength, the statistics surrounding road safety are concerning.
According to the Road Accident Fund, an average of at least four children lose their lives on our roads daily. These statistics don't reflect well on our driving habits, and the only way to tackle this crisis is by encouraging drivers to take responsibility for protecting our children.
With this in mind, it was scary to see a video shared on social media, showing a mother and child walking along a narrow road in Brazil. To avoid a large pothole, the mother and child moved into the middle of the road.
"The young mother can be seen slipping on the wet asphalt as she was shunted by the vehicle before she fell to the ground and narrowly avoided going under the bus. Her daughter's pushchair toppled over and was sent skidding along the road, with the bus tyres missing the toddler's head by mere inches." (Daily Mail)
Fortunately, the bus driver managed to stop in time. However, both mother and child have been left psychologically distraught by the incident.
The event, which is said to have occurred on January 7, 2025, only came to light later when the woman's father reported it.
