Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp / Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
If you want to up your Christmas decor game this year, we have got you covered with some cool ideas.
With just one day to Christmas, everyone is feeling the effects of this memorable holiday, which sees family and friends come together. However, it can also be described as a somewhat stressful holiday for those who are hosting family and friends.
The pressure to have everything together can be tiresome.
This is why we have some fun ideas to help you add that special touch to your Christmas table this year. These ideas are cost-effective and easy to execute, depending on how you are doing Christmas lunch.
1. An African-inspired centrepiece
This lovely centrepiece idea uses a can of gold spray paint, some toy plastic animals, a tray, fake snow, and some embellishments. Far too often, the decor is themed for a snowy Christmas, which is not ideal for South Africa. We have warm and rainy weather around this time of the year, but more importantly, our fantastic wildlife should be highlighted through our home decor.
Check out this great idea below from TikTok.

2. DIY Bug Repellent
This DIY bug repellent not only adds freshness to your dining table but also repels bugs. All you need is a glass jar, sprigs of fresh rosemary, lemon slices, citronella oil, water, and some floating candles.
This is an excellent addition to your table decor and helps keep your guests at ease while dining.

3. Napkin/Serviette folding
This might be a waste of time for some people, but it is a fun way to keep things festive and cheery for those who want to add a special touch to your table setting.
You can use reusable cloth napkins or throwaways, but if you are using throwaways, make sure they are thick-ply so they don't tear when folding them.
Watch the cute ideas from TikTok below. There are four ways of folding the napkins in this video, each with its own charm.
