Black Friday shopping is here, and while there may be a plethora of specials and promotions, there are also some things that you should be wary of.

Walking into the sale can be dangerous for some shoppers, especially when you are so consumed by the 'saving' that you don't look beneath the surface.

We have put together a list of tips that could help you shop wisely. Thinking about things such as impulse buying, refund policies, and con artists will equip you for this global shopping event.

1. Set your budget

Don't walk into any Black Friday special without clearly setting a budget. How much are you going to spend on each item to avoid overspending? It might be better to keep cash. This way, there's no temptation to spend more.

2. Be prepared

If you are shopping in-store, go early, wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and have a list so you avoid unnecessary time wasting.

3. Be aware of scammers

If you are shopping online, do not click on any links. Stay on reputable websites and keep your login details secure. Remember, scammers are on the prowl and will take any opportunity to scam you; keep your radar up.

4. Refunds and Returns policy

Make sure to read the terms and conditions. Retail therapy can be consuming, don't get sucked in without reading or enquiring about the refund and returns policy.

5. Money in, money out

Take into your consideration that your next salary will only be received just before Christmas or after, so, remember not to overspend. Keep this in mind and be intentional with your purchases, not everything on sale is needed...
