Travelling with kids can be daunting, especially during the festive season, but here are some handy tips.
The holidays for many families means travelling. Whether that means visiting another country or place, it is a time for an adventure.
Some choose to do short-distance travelling, maybe by road to visit friends and family in another province, while others decide to travel via air and take a longer trip.
Either way, there are some tips that every family would do well to note when travelling with kids.
1. Consider the kids sleeping times when travelling
If you have younger kids, it is highly recommended to consider their sleep routine when planning flights. This will help you feel more relaxed and the benefit of a well-rested kid is only truly appreciated when they miss a nap.
Plus, the time difference may not seem like a big deal if you are travelling abroad, but it really does make a difference in your mood.
2. Don't discount your time
Being early can be a great thing when travelling with kids. It will allow you time when you most need it. Unforeseen circumstances always erupt when travelling, whether that comes in the form of flight delays or gridlock traffic, leaving early will help everyone.
3. Pack light
There is this temptation to overpack things. Resist the temptation and carry the basics. With some online research, you can check if places keep things that you don't necessarily need to take.
4. Health and medicine
As much as no one wants to be sick whilst travelling, chances are it can happen. So, with the approval from a registered medical professional, find out what you can carry with you in case of an emergency.
