Tourist: "Who is this?" Mzansi: "Who are you?"

As South Africans, we can be quite protective – and a little sensitive – when it comes to our national heroes, especially Siya Kolisi.
Recently, an American visitor to Cape Town found himself in the hot seat after asking a seemingly innocent question: who is Siya Kolisi?
While dining at a roadside restaurant in Cape Town, he noticed a crowd gathering around a man, stopping to chat and snap photos. Intrigued, he took to TikTok to ask his followers why everyone seemed so fascinated with this guy.
What he didn’t expect, however, was to stir up a storm of reactions from South Africans, who quickly fired back with the passion only we know how to deliver.
It wasn’t long before he found himself in the middle of a very heated conversation.
Check out the video below from TikTok.

Spencer, the American, later discovered that the "guy" everyone was snapping photos with played rugby. But for South Africans – whether rugby fans or not – Kolisi represents so much more than that.
The comments flooded in, with people coming for Spencer, but he
seemed unfazed by the backlash.
One person wrote, "This is your sign to go home."
Stacey wrote, "Don't ever disrespect Siya ever again."
Spencer responded, "So never ask a question again, okay? I love learning here."
Here are some of our favourite comments:
"True. Next flight, please. We can't deal."
"Tell me you're not South African without telling me you are not South African."
"Who is this? To THE Siya Kolisi?"
"Maybe that's a sign to go back home now."
"He's the head boy of South Africa."
"That's Captain South Africa, who are you?"
