Travel nightmare for a couple in their eighties who got stuck in Mexico...

Have you ever had travel drama like this?
We cannot even imagine experiencing drama whilst travelling. Mostly because we don't think we would be able to take it...
Not with kids anyway...
Being the adult when it comes to circumstances outside your control, whilst still being a parent, can be strenuous.

But being much older and having to put up with unforeseen, immensely stressful circumstances outside your control, might top our scenario slightly.
Or maybe more than slightly, considering we aren't in our 80s and still feel tired, we cannot imagine what this couple must've felt like.
Michael and Catherine Romain set off for a trip to Mexico for a friend's 89th birthday. It seems as if the travel powers that be were not quite on their side...
It all started when they arrived in Dallas from Palm Beach Airport for a connecting flight to Mexico. Their flight was cancelled and they had to stay overnight, arriving in Mexico a day late.
The "fun", as Michael called it, began on their return journey on the 25 June 2022.
"He and his wife boarded the plane and seemed set for an on-time departure before the aircraft developed a communication problem, followed by an issue with the brakes." (Business Insider)
After being asked to exit the plane, they boarded again after some time only to be told that two passengers were missing and the plane could not take off.
Talk about bad travelling juju...

Michael said: "One had dropped her passport on the jetway and it fell onto the tarmac. "By the time the passport was retrieved, the pilots had timed out," (Business Insider)
This led to the flight being cancelled. They had to spend another night at a hotel and unfortunately had to wait for their luggage because the luggage crew were loading other departing flights.
The next morning their flight was cancelled yet again and they had to wait a further 24 hours before eventually leaving Mexico. Michael also ran out of his heart medication during all the waiting, but luckily he is well and happy to be home.
