There are plenty of professions where twerking might be frowned upon, and it looks like we can now add flight attendants to that list.

You wouldn’t expect someone to lose their job over a dance move, but for Alaskan Airlines flight attendant Nellie Diala, it played a role in her dismissal.

Diala had only been with the airline for six months and was celebrating the end of her probationary period when she posted a TikTok video of herself twerking in the aisle of an empty aircraft.

The video quickly went viral, but instead of sharing in her excitement, the airline was less than impressed – ultimately leading to her dismissal.

"I decided just to take advantage of the moment, to wake myself up and kind of get myself hyped up for my day basically," she told Inside Edition.

"They just said that I broke their social media policy. I put on such a proud face every time I stepped on that plane, and for them to terminate me without giving me a chance, it just was unfair," she added.

Diala is devastated by how the situation was handled and feels discriminated against, especially given the challenges she faced transitioning into the demanding role of a flight attendant.

Despite the difficulties, it was her dream job, and she was more than willing to put in the work.

After losing her job, she started a GoFundMe page, and the public quickly shared their opinions.

Some people felt she could have celebrated her excitement with a twerk, but without the uniform and not in the workplace.

It's a tough reality for Diala to face, and it's unclear whether she plans to continue her career as a flight attendant. However, she has been focusing on her small business, which specialises in lingerie and desserts.

Diala's experience is a reminder of the importance of understanding both social media and workplace policies before posting online.
