Training our kids to use the toilet can be a difficult task.

As parents, we sometimes forget that it is a huge deal to transition from using a nappy to using the toilet.

So, it should never be taken for granted that it is easy. Nor should we compare kids. Each child is different, and we should always try our best to remember that.

For instance, where one child might take easily to potty training, another might find it challenging.

Children are known for their honesty and shunning that part of them is never advisable.

One kid very politely shared how 'potty time' for her was a time that she needed some privacy

Or in her words, "Pwivacy".

The Today's Parent website advises that we pay heed to certain things when our kids ask for privacy.

Being supportive, encouraging positive body image, discussing what's appropriate in the home, and determining levels of comfort are all important.

'"A child’s demand for privacy signals their increasing independence," says Sandy Riley, a child and adolescent therapist in Toronto. “It means they are growing and developing, and that’s a good thing.” Parents should take a “sensitive, supportive approach,” to help them become more comfortable with their bodies. “This is crucial for positive body image later on,” Riley says.'
