WATCH: First-time mom knew something was wrong but doctors disagreed

A mother follows her gut and it turns out she was the voice for her baby...
There's nothing quite like being a first-time mother and being told by medical professionals that you are worrying too much.
As a parent, you can feel pretty much helpless when you notice something is not right with your baby and you cannot do anything to help them.
But sometimes all it takes is persistence in following your parental instincts, because believe us, it is real and it does exist.
A first time mother shared her experience online recently about how she noticed small symptoms that added up to her daughter eventually being diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
She says that after having a completely healthy pregnancy, baby was born and one week in, the constant screaming, unsettled behaviour, and silent reflux began.
Her head was always tilted and she sweated a lot...
They took her to the hospital for a rash, which was said to be a milk allergy and she was treated for a urine infection, which she says was not even present.
Then things escalated. She noticed many things, like poor breathing, constant playing with the tongue, took her to the hospital and this time she was treated for Bronchiolitis and sent home saying it would go away on its own...
After some time, they took her to a speech therapist and an MRI scan revealed that she had spinal muscular atrophy, which is a terminal muscle wasting disease.
Most babies don't live past the age of two when they have it.

But there is always hope and thankfully this mother and father pushed past all the doctors that didn't care to take the time, and found someone who did listen.
The moral being that you should always follow your parental instincts. It could save your child's life.
