Children are fast, you need to have your eyes on them at all times...
Children are instinctive, they do not know about reason or consequences.
That is why as much as they are great life coaches, they need us to teach them about safety and to be their compasses in life.
Not to say that we have to be behind them 24/7, but there is a level of guidance and awareness that we need to take on, especially with younger kids.

A perfect example of what might occur if we are not careful with them happened earlier this month in Kansas.

"Luckily a quick-thinking 12-year-old from his apartment complex resident noticed the child was in danger and told his father, who jumped over the locked fence to help." (Instagram)

Thankfully, he is okay, but if we have to face reality, this could've ended badly.
This is why it is so important to teach your children about water safety.
Sometimes it just takes speaking to them, showing them a safety video, acting it out, any means will do. Making them aware from an early age is integral.
