"Want to live a 15% shorter life? Then sleep for five hours or less..." - Dr Amy Shah.

Snoring is not something any person does on purpose, but it is a condition that affects many people.

Most times it is just an annoying problem that your partner has to put up with and other times it could be an indicator of an underlying health condition.

According to WebMD, "Snoring once in a while isn’t usually a serious problem. It’s mostly a nuisance for your bed partner. But if you’re a long-term snorer, you not only disrupt the sleep patterns of those close to you, you hurt your own sleep quality."

We came across a post on Instagram shared by a Medical Doctor and Nutrition expert, Dr Amy Shah, who shared a video of a baby who was sleeping with his mom and dad.

In the video, we see the baby wriggling around next to his mother while his father snores away.

The father's snoring is disrupting their sleep, so the baby wriggles his way to his dad and smacks his dad on the face. As if the first smack wasn't enough, he proceeded to give him another one that had dad take cover.

Dr Amy Shah shared the video as a way of making people aware of the importance of getting a good night's rest.

She went on to say that in this case, "Baby knows best" because "the loss of sleep affects your mood and reaction time but studies have also linked sleep deprivation to obesity, and risk for diabetes and chronic inflammation. Even without these conditions, simply sleeping less than 5 hours a night on average reduces your life expectancy by 15%." (Instagram)
