Our World in Data reveals that as time passes we spend less and less time with our family...

As time passes, we rarely consciously take into regard what we miss out on and take for granted. And if you are like us, you have to admit that there are moments where time is taken for granted.

This prompted interesting research into the time spent in your own company and with others by 'Our World in Data'.

The data collected by 'Our World in Data' revealed how much time Americans spent with themselves and others between 2009 and 2019.

"The amount of minutes by day spent with family seems to go down significantly as one grows older, whereas time spent alone only sky-rocketed as a person got older." (Malta Daily)

That makes sense considering people have been more focused on self care over the past decade or so. But that may exclude parents who always complain about never having enough time alone.

"In fact, a person seems to spend well over 400 minutes alone, whilst on the other hand a person spends less than 100 minutes with family by the time, they reach age 80." (Malta Daily)

Surprisingly, the data revealed that time spent alone is more than time spent with a partner. And time spent with friends and co-workers declines over time.

However, time spent with your partner as you grow older increases. For obvious reasons, of course; as you get older, you are most likely to retire and have more time on your hands.

"And finally, time spent with friends peaks between ages 15 and 20, only to drop to around 53 minutes per day at age 30. It stays relatively similar until age 80." (Malta Daily)
