What's your take on standing in a queue this Festive Season?

There's a fine line between standing in a line out of responsibility and leisure.

When you think of queues, as a South African, you are often haunted by images of people waiting in line at Home Affairs or worse.

But there's an underlying cause behind standing in a line: the immense patience and rewarding mentality it encourages is a trait to be admired. There must be a valid return on the time invested if one stands in a queue longer than an hour (at most).

The people of Cape Town have been fine examples of patience and commitment in their holiday queueing, and we are not sure if this is a trait we should admire or if we are missing something...

In a video that was shared on the Visit Cape Town Instagram page, we saw what was said to be 1,000 people standing in a queue to enter Table Mountain. Granted, not all of them could've been local, so there's the motivation to see a world wonder.

If that wasn't bad enough, another video surfaced showing the long lines to enter the Pavilion Rotary Park, which doesn't just have a pool but also a play area for the kids.

This might be worse than the Table Mountain queue because here, people would have to wait for others to leave to get a spot inside, as there might be rules on the capacity. And we all know there's no cap on how long someone wants to spend inside a pool or play area...

And then, as if this was not enough, a Cape Tonian shared the queue he was forced to wait in at a mall to pay for his parking ticket. Ah, the joys of having a car and shopping during the festive season...
