Today is World Maths Day, and we want to challenge the common belief that math is a daunting subject.

Yes, it's true, not everyone is a maths expert, and that's okay. However, we use maths in our everyday lives more often than we realise, and it's time to embrace and celebrate it.

After all, we leave a lasting impact on the next generation by showing them how important maths is.

World Maths Day was created to inspire a love for maths. It’s the world’s largest online competition, where students from all over the globe solve 20 rounds of 60-second math problems.

Founded by 3P Learning, the creators of Mathletics, an online platform for students aged 5 to 16, this day encourages fun and learning.

Whether you're stuck calculating a percentage or helping your child with multiplication or division, we've found an online source that makes maths more approachable – a perfect way to celebrate maths today.

For example, to find 40% of 30, simply multiply the smaller numbers: 4 (from 40) × 3 (from 30) = 12.

Please note that this trick doesn't work for every number.

Teaching division with larger numbers can feel intimidating, but breaking it down with your times table makes it more manageable.

When learning division by nine, here's a helpful trick: add 1 to the first digit to find your answer. For example, 72 ÷ 9 = 8 (7 + 1 = 8).

This method works specifically with the number 9, making it an easy and handy trick to remember.
