Pizza is great and we love it, but for this dad, pizza is how he pays his bills, and we mean literally so.

Nicola Toso (50) separated from the mother of his child in 2002, and agreed to pay for maintenance of the child which was then about R5,000 monthly, but things didn’t go as planned, Huffington Post reported.

With the tough economic conditions in Italy, Toso found himself struggling to raise the money for maintenance, but with him being a professional pizza maker who owns a restaurant, he thought of a very clever way to pay for his child. He decided to pay by giving her pizza, calzones, and other meals worth that much monthly.

This was even approved by the court. “In lieu of money, the defendant offered his ex-wife the same amount of compensation in the form of take-away pizzas from his workplace, an offer promptly rejected as ‘beggar’s change," Judge Chiara Bitozzi reportedly said in her ruling. The judge went on to add that there was no evidence of any crime being committed, and Toso was acquitted, the publication reported.
