The gym was the brain child of former drug dealer Coss Marte, who was sent down for seven years at the age of 23. It is now a socially conscious business that is used to get ex-cons on their feet and get New Yorkers fit at the same time.
Matre, has a very interesting story he was arrested for dealing aged 13 and by 23, he was pushing so much coke and heroin that he was making millions. When he was finally arrested doctors told him that he was so dangerously overweight that he’d die behind bars if he didn’t lose weight.
