Boxgirls empowers young women by teaching them how to fight for their rights
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Ndivile Mafenuka is a Boxgirls International partner who is helping her peers gain confidence and demand respect, punch by punch.
In many ways, girls in South Africa grow up under the shadow of gender-based violence. It can be very difficult to see your way out of a vulnerable situation, but that does not mean it is impossible.
With the support of Boxgirls International, an organisation that focuses on empowering girls through education, young Ndivile Mafenuka is giving the girls in her community the tools they need to thrive in today's society.

By teaching the girls how to box, Ndivile is helping her peers gain confidence in themselves. Confident girls know how to fight for respect.
Through Boxgirls, Ndivile has been able to participate in an initiative that contributes to the safety of girls in her community.
Ndivile's efforts prove that 'fighting like a girl' means standing up for what's right.
