Centurion-based photographer shoots life-changing animal portraits
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Professional photographer of people and animals Emma O'Brien enjoys taking honest portraits of animals at the local shelter in hopes of getting them adopted.
When you visit an animal shelter, you walk in with an open heart ready to embrace all the animals that need love.
However, there is a lot to be said for a dog (or a cat, or a bird, etc.) that has a great personality and good looks. Shelter staff will tell you that those animals are usually the first to be adopted.
Centurion's Emma O'Brien noticed this phenomenon and decided to do her bit to help. Already the proud owner of five rescue dogs, Emma saw that she could help to raise the chances of dogs being adopted if she could take good photographs of them.
Emma takes pride in creating portraits that are full of life and personality.
Emma has also used her photography to raise much-needed funds for the Sandton SPCA and Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW).
With the proceeds from her self-published photo book, Mutts: One of a kind rescue dogs and their inspirational stories, Emma helps the two organisations to continue doing the important work of rescuing and caring for abandoned animals.
Speaking to Beautiful News, Emma said: "It is really heartwarming to see a dog that I photographed going to a new home".
