Community rallies to save deer with head stuck in plastic container
Updated | By High School Hits Classics with Barney Simon
A baby deer that had its head stuck in a plastic container for days on end was finally rescued in Rocky Point, New York.
When Long Island, New York's Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center received a report about a fawn in distress, they immediately put out a call to the community for help.
The young deer was spotted with its head stuck in a plastic container, a situation that Save-A-Pet called "dire".
The search for the distressed deer took place over four days and involved a wildlife expert. While Save-A-Pet called on the public to report sightings of the animal, they did warn that it was not wise to approach the animal: "It is vital that everyone please STAY AWAY. Please do not drive or walk in the area or attempt to approach the deer, as the wildlife expert needs to be able to do his job without interference, as that could scare the deer and make it more difficult to get her the help she needs."
The deer was finally found and freed from the plastic container early this week.
Save-A-Pet is happy to have been able to save a deer's life.
