Elderly Irish man bravely fights off three armed robbers
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
A brave 83-year-old man fought three armed robbers without once stopping to worry about his own safety.
When a group of criminals chooses a shop to rob they are usually confident that they will be able to restrain anyone who tries to stop them from completing the job by all means possible. What they don't often plan for is that the most vulnerable-looking people could be the ones who fight back the hardest.
Yet that is exactly what happened when three masked robbers carrying hammers and a gun charged into Bar One Racing in Ireland, "roaring and bashing hammers".
The men jump over the counter and begin threatening one of the staff members with their hammers. When they notice an old man trying to stop them, they begin to fight him, expecting him to back down easily. But the 83-year-old man, identified as pensioner Denis O'Connor, has his own plans.

He engages in a brief scuffle with two of the men, eventually bundling them out of the store. He kicks one of them in the backside as he runs out of the door.
Perhaps they chose not to fight him out of respect for the elderly?
