EMT goes beyond line of duty to help a sick old man
Updated | By Poelano Malema
When an 87-year-old man in Lincoln, California, passed out while mowing his lawn, an angel came to his rescue. Not only did emergency medical technician, Chris Spires, save his life, but he also did something truly kind.
The old man, who doesn't want to be named, reportedly fainted while mowing his lawn. His children called 911, but the old man refused to go to hospital.
However, the EMT went beyond his line of duty and did something truly remarkable - he made sure the old man's lawn didn't look shabby by finishing the job himself .
The old man's son, Ken Densley, told Huffington Post that he tried to convince Spires not to mow the lawn.
“I went out and said, ‘You don’t have to do this,’ but he said, ‘I checked with dispatch and we don’t have any pressing calls,’” Densley told the publication.
“He basically suggested I’d have to do something like punch him to get him to stop. Then he asked where to put the lawnmower when he was done,” Densley added.
He also took the news to Facebook.
"My dad, born in 1929, won't let us mow his lawn. He pushed too hard today and passed out. The neighbors saw and called 911. He's okay and refused to go to the hospital. My sister and I came as soon as we heard and while we were talking him back inside one of the EMTs put the gurney away and the other finished mowing the lawn!"
"I told him I would do that but he insisted! He finished and even put the mower away," he wrote.
