A Kenyan man was seen hanging onto a helicopter carrying a dead man to his burial site. The man, Saleh Wanjala, reportedly grabbed the landing skid of a helicopter at a public mourning ceremony in Bungoma, Kenya, on Friday. The helicopter was carrying the body of Kenyan businessman and anti-government activist Jacob Juma.
Speaking to reporters from his hospital bed at the Bungoma Referral Hospital, Wanjala said his leg got caught on one of the landing skids when was trying to get a better look at the helicopter’s interior, and before he could manage to free it, the helicopter took off. In order to save his life, he told the reporters he was forced to hang onto the landing skids. Fortunately for him, observers managed to alert the pilot by waving frantically on the ground, Nairobi News reported.
This helped the pilot to avoid tall buildings and trees, lowering his aircraft so the man could jump off. He reportedly managed to jump off at a local airstrip, but injured his hip joint and elbow and also sustained a cut on the eyebrow.
According to the report, Wanjala was then rushed to hospital where he was kept overnight.
He has been charged with endangering his life and that of the pilot.
Below is the shocking video.
