Man set alight after e-cigarette explodes
Updated | By Poelano Malema
In 2015, the US announced a ban on putting e-cigarettes into checked baggage on flights. This came in a bid to protect against in-flight fires caused by the devices.
A man in France has now become the latest victim of an e-cigarette explosion. A video has gone viral showing the man catching fire after his e-cigarette battery exploded inside his pocket.
The video shows four men standing in a nightclub, before fire explodes from one of the guy’s pockets. In an interview with Ladepeche, the victim, Amone Britel, said: “Suddenly I heard a noise like sparkler, but 10 times more powerful. And after the shock of the explosion, I realised that I had caught fire." The accident was reportedly so bad that it resulted in him suffering burns to the side of his abdomen and his fingers.
According to Mashable, Britel said he will be suing the store which sold him the Chinese battery.
Below is the video of the incident...
