Man who ran over a squirrel brings it back to life
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
A young man in Minnesota felt bad about hitting a squirrel with his car and decided to make up for it in the best way he could think of.
While he was driving along a suburban road, Minnesota man Chris Felix bumped into a squirrel. Other drivers may have carried on without looking back, but Felix felt he had to at least stop his car and see if the squirrel was hurt.
He noticed that the furry creature had been knocked out and decided to take a chance on resuscitating it.
Felix said he just wanted to "give it his best shot" and see if he could help the squirrel. He was performing miniature compressions on the animal's chest when local police arrived on the scene to ask whether everything was okay.
Two officers from the Brooklyn Park Police Department stayed with Felix as he tried to revive the squirrel. It took 20 minutes for him to bring the animal back to consciousness.
After watching it run away, presumably back to its nest, one policeman high-fived Felix and said, "You saved his life, dude!"
Felix was glad that he could do his part: "I was there trying to help it out, you know. Something little means a lot in the long run."
