New Jersey dog chooses the 'pug life'
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Bean the pug came close to becoming a jailbird when he was picked up by police in Cape May, New Jersey after he was spotted running loose in the neighbourhood.
The consequences of running away from home don't dawn on the delinquent child until well after they get into trouble on the streets. And the same can be said for dogs that run away from their owners, too.
Police in Cape May, New Jersey were surprised to find a young pug running loose on the streets. With the owner nowhere in sight, the police decided to detain the dog to keep it safe.
PUG MUG!! “This is what happens when you run away from home.” Cape May Police Department had a little fun with a runaway pug over the weekend. They say the pug’s owner was located and that the little guy was released on bail. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/w1gq9NarSH

In efforts to find the dog's owners, the police created a "mugshot" to put out on social media. The dog, whose name is Bean, turned out to be the most photogenic furry criminal on the loose the Cape May police had ever seen.
Followers of the Cape May police's Facebook page were glad that the pug was being kept safe. Some commented on the daring attitude a dog had to have to run away from home.
The social media post helped the police to track down the owner within a short space of time. Bean's "bail" was a bag of fresh cookies.
Running away may have made Bean famous on Facebook, but it is safe to say that he won't be turning to the "pug life" any time soon.
