Ostrich leaves crowd stunned as it runs wild during Russian circus show

Spectators at a circus in Russia were left stunned when an ostrich escaped the ring and ran into the crowd.
Circus-goers in Volgogard, Russia were left stunned when an ostrich that was performing in a show they were watching broke free and ran into the crowd.
This happened after a bright red spotlight was shone on the bird.
The ostrich's handler shouts something imperceptible that makes the crowd laugh but soon things turn chaotic. The ostrich, presumably looking for an escape, jumps over a barrier and into the crowd.
People begin panicking as the equally anxious bird flails about in the audience, striking out with its arms and legs.
The handler eventually manages to recapture the bird and calm the audience down. There has been no confirmation from the circus about the current state of the ostrich or the conditions under which it is being held.
