Pedestrian anaconda holds up traffic in Brazil
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Commuters in Manaus, Brazil had their journey stalled by an anaconda that slithered out of a nearby forest and onto the highway.
Those who often drive on rural roads will be familiar with the concept of livestock holding up traffic. If sheep or cattle are in the middle of the road, there is nothing you can do but wait for them to cross.
Hooting doesn't work, and neither does driving forward in hopes of clearing a path through the herd. You just have to wait.
Commuters on a quiet highway in Manaus, Brazil had to do some waiting of their own, but not because of a few stubborn cows. An anaconda slithered out of a nearby forest and onto the road, causing all cars to come to a standstill.
Residents watched as the giant snake, reportedly about 3,5 metres in length, crossed the road.

Manaus is an important centre of wildlife ecotourism in Brazil. A sighting such as this is both welcome and fascinating.
Why did the snake cross the road? We will never know, but one thing is for sure: he didn't look left and right before he did.
