Police dog performs CPR to 'save' human officer's life

Footage from a Municipal Police of Madrid training day shows a very dedicated police dog demonstrating superior CPR skills, proving once again that dogs are man's best friend.

The American writer and lecturer Josh Billings once said: "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."

The officers of the Municipal Police of Madrid know this to be true as one of their police dogs, a pup named Poncho, demonstrated a high level of loyalty and love during a recent training day.

Poncho, noticing that his partner had collapsed, ran over immediately and began jumping on the officer's chest in an attempt to "restart his heart". Though the police officer was only pretending to be unconscious, Poncho carried on with the emergency procedure, even going as far as laying his head on the officer's chest, supposedly to check his breathing.

When the officer gets up from the ground, Poncho is visibly relieved to have his partner back.

The Spanish police department shared Poncho's triumph on Twitter with the following message: "Heroic performance of our #CompanionOf4Paws Poncho, who did not hesitate a moment in 'saving the life' of the agent, practising the #CPR in a masterful way."

The tweet ended with the quote from Josh Billings (which did not lose any of its value even as it was incorrectly attributed to "John Billings").
