Robot prank leaves restaurant workers terrified
Updated | By Poelano Malema
It’s probably something you would expect to see in a movie: a robot ordering food at the drive-thru window of a restaurant. Well it happened in real life... sort of!
Several restaurants’ staff were left baffled after a robot pulled up to their drive-thru to place orders, even proceeding to make payments. What they did not know was that a man had put the robot in the driver’s seat of his car and hid in the back.
The robot left poor workers absolutely terrified as seen in the viral video posted on YouTube. At one of the restaurants, the worker can be heard shouting: “I’m not touching that money!”. And as if witnessing the robot wasn’t scary enough, it lit up and yelled at workers too. To one worker, it even said: “I will follow you”.
Although this was a prank, in certain parts of the world, robots are practically taking over. Recently, several Chinese restaurants reportedly hired robots as waitresses. The move was criticised by some, saying humans do a far better job than robots.
Will we be seeing robots hitting restaurants to order food on our behalf soon? Only time will tell! In the meantime, below is the video of the prank
