Shocking video footage shows plane being hit by lightning
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Six planes were struck by bolts of lightning as they landed at Heathrow Airport in London on Thursday. This happened at around 20h00 during a serious thunderstorm.

A local resident, Kevin McArdle, managed to capture one of the British Airways planes being hit.
The aircraft was carrying passengers from Iceland to England.
"It was about 8.15pm last night when I heard the thunderstorm and saw a couple of aircraft get hit before this one - there were probably about six in total," McArdle told BT.com.
"Parson's Green is right under the Heathrow flight path so I see a lot of planes going over, but I've never seen this before," he added.
However, a British Airways spokesperson said it was common for planes to be hit by lightning and they are designed to cope with it. The affected plane will be thoroughly checked before its next flight.
