The research was conducted using US Census Bureau data, which covers 3.5 million households, MSN reports. The most common matchups according to the research are:
- School teachers are most likely to marry someone in the same profession as they are.
- Financial analysts will either marry financial managers, someone in retail, operations research analysts, or even a teacher.
- Flight attendants are also likely to marry a flight attendant, manager or school teacher.
- Chefs and head cooks are likely to marry a chef, head cook, maid, housekeepers or waitresses.
- Apart from retailers marrying someone in their same profession, they are likely to marry a health-practitioner support technologists and technicians.
- Farmers and ranchers are likely to marry each other or female clinical laboratory technologists or technicians.
- Physicians and surgeons are likely to marry someone in their field of work or registered nurses.
- Secretaries and administrative assistants are most likely to marry someone in management, flight attendants or office and administrative-support supervisors.
- Waiters and waitresses will likely marry housekeepers, maids, or female cashiers.
- Actors are most likely to marry actors, designers, TV, video, and motion-picture camera operators and editors.
- Lawyers and judges will likely marry each other or computer workers.
- CEOs will marry fellow CEOs or school teachers.
- Registered nurses will likely marry other nurses or someone in management.
