DA to seek explanation from De Lille for attending EFF's Winnie memorial
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
Another spat is brewing between the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille.
The DA claims De Lille failed to let the party know in advance that she'd be speaking at the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) memorial for struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in the Free State.
A fiery De Lille addressed a large crowd of EFF supporters in Brandfort on Wednesday.
The DA's James Selfe says it's normal protocol for leaders to inform the party if they are attending events organised by rival political parties.
"Senior leaders of the party are expected to clear this ahead of time. There was another provincial leader of the DA in attendance at that rally but by arrangement. We will be interested to know what Ms de Lille's explanation is for not observing the normal protocol."

The DA is involved in a spat with De Lille, whom it is accusing of bringing the party into disrepute.
She is currently facing two disciplinary hearings but it's not clear when they're meant to resume.
"It has become a pattern now of action now on behalf of Ms De Lille and we will have to take account of that in due course," says Selfe.
