MKMVA spokesperson, Carl Niehaus, says the organisation is concerned at reports that people were shooting into the air at the weekend.

"It is important that the manner in which comrade Winnie is mourned must be in a way that respects the community and the fact her house is in an area that is populated," says Niehaus.

He says the organization is not aware that any of their members were involved in the shooting, as alleged by Police Minister Bheki Cele.

"We are prepared to cooperate with the South African Police Services in the investigations into this matter."

Niehaus adds anyone involved in the shooting in the air should face the full might of the law.

Speaking at a memorial service in Soweto on Monday afternoon, Gauteng Premier David Makhura condemned the incident.

Makhura said those involved in the shooting will be arrested.

"That cannot be done in the name of the ANC, it cannot be done in the name of MKMVA."
